The hardest part for customers of BuyMyTronics is deciding what condition their phone is in. It's a subject science, for sure! What could be one persons "trashed piece of junk" could be another's "slightly used device." This guide will help you figure out how to accurately rate your items.
For working items, we offer quotes for four different condition levels. Each level holds a specific price, so it’s important to be as accurate as possible when submitting an order. Below is a breakdown of each condition:
NEW: No mincing words with this one! If you have never used this phone and it has no signs of physical flaws on it, it's new! Sometimes a new item can come without a box, and that's okay, but the previous two conditions must exist in order to call it new. Our team is trained to be very strict when considering items to be New; even if the device is physically flawless, but clearly has been activated before, we cannot consider it to be new.
EXCELLENT: If you've taken very good care of your phone and have owned anywhere from 2 weeks, to 1 and a half years, it's probably excellent. Excellent is the most popular physical condition, ranging around 85%. A good rule of thumb is, "when in doubt, it's probably excellent."
AVERAGE: Your phone works for you, not the other way around! It gets dropped and scuffed and you swear there's this scratch on the back that looks like the Virgin Mary. You've probably had this phone for 6 months to 2 years, so this may very well count as average. You know it's not poor, but there is excessive scratching on the screen; this ought to be submitted as average condition.
POOR: Bottom of the barrel. You've had some good times together, but it's time to move on. Chunks of plastic may be falling off, heavy scratching and/or dust under the screen may be there, but every function of the phone still works. It will be worse than average, but it will not be broken, and may even defy logic.
Hovering over each condition will also bring a pop up that will give you even more specifics about what to look for with your phone. Remember, the more accurate you are with your description of what you're selling, the quicker you will receive your payment!
We understand that it can be difficult to evaluate your own device, so it’s helpful to put yourself in someone else’s shoes when creating an order. Think to yourself “what would someone think about my device if I were to give it to them?”
Finally, if you’re truly unsure of what condition your device is in, it’s always better to under evaluate than over evaluate. It’s much easier (and more rewarding!) for our team to add value to your order than to take value away.
