The Apple iPod iTouch: The models, the differences, and the fun

clock February 2, 2013 22:57 by author Frank Ling

When Apple’s iPod iTouch was first introduced in September 2007, some critics disparagingly called it “an iPhone without the phone.” But Apple guessed right about the public’s reception, and the iTouch has become one of Apple’s best selling devices.

For those who are a bit puzzled about what an iTouch exactly is, and what the benefits of owning one are, you’ll find the answers right here.

What’s an iTouch?
If it could be described in three words it would be “portable multimedia machine.” It resembles the iPhone, and as has been pointed out by others, it’s an iPhone without the phone.

The device can be used as an MP3 player, handheld video game console, streaming video player, Internet browser, and camera. With all the attention going to the new iPhone 5 launch, another product from Apple seems to have been buried in all the news—the fifth generation iPod iTouch. We’ll go over some of the highlights of this new model and see what’s in store for prospective customers.

Whether you’re at the gym, taking a nice walk or just relaxing, listening to your favorite tunes during these times is something that almost everyone likes to do. Today’s MP3 players have come a long way since the introduction of Apple’s iPod in 2001--MP3 players now come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and price ranges.

If you’re in the market for a good MP3 player, we’ll help you try to choose a MP3 player that’s just right for you.

Lots of options
MP3 players have evolved to a state where you can watch videos on them, use them as pedometers, play games, and even surf the Internet. The features for MP3 players range from simple devices that just play music to full-blown miniature multimedia units.

More features are not necessarily better. If your primary goal is to have a simple but reliable MP3 player, these models range in price from $30 to around $60. Basic features should include a display screen and a minimum of 2GB of storage or more.

For MP3 players that have more advanced features such as video playback, and other options, higher end units will cost about $150 and up.  More...
