Three to choose from
At the time of this writing (December 2012) there are three basic iPhone models to choose from: the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S, and the most recent addition to Apple’s smartphone line, the iPhone 5.
All iPhones have access to Apple’s extensive library of applications from its App Store and iTunes music library where hundreds of thousands of songs, games, and software can be downloaded and purchased or obtained at no cost.

San Francisco--On Wednesday, September 12 at approximately 10:15am PST during a foggy morning in the city where little cable cars reach halfway to the stars, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, took center stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and introduced the company’s new baby—the iPhone 5. It weighed in at 112 grams.
Smaller and lighter
The iPhone 5 (yes it’s really called that) is the lightest and thinnest iPhone Apple has ever produced. It only weights 112 grams or about 4 ounces, and is 7.6mm (0.30 inches) thick.
The body of the iPhone is made of aluminum and glass. Tim Cook said the iPhone 5 was “the most beautiful product we have ever made.” The iPhone 5 will come in the colors black or white. More...

Remember last year when smartphone fans around the world were anxiously living on rumors and tidbits about Apple’s new iPhone 5? It seemed as though every theory, story, and conjecture, no matter how far-fetched, was taken at face value and accepted as the truth.
But as we all know now, virtually all of the rumors failed to launch, so to speak, and Apple fans saw the reveal of the iPhone 4S in October 2011, instead.
Although it’s hard to believe, the Apple rumor mill has begun to crank out more stories about the next model of the iPhone. Some have already tagged it as the iPhone 5, while others believe Apple will throw another curve ball at the public and name it something else.
Most bets are on Apple naming its new product the “Next iPhone.”
One of the main weaknesses and complaints about the iPhone series are the glass backs – drop your iPhone and the fragile case shatters. But according to some sources within the industry, Apple may be incorporating a new material for its cases with something called Liquidmetal. More...
