Apple Unviels New MacBook Air

clock October 22, 2010 15:04 by author Katie Flynn

When Steve Jobs said “What happens when a MacBook meets an iPad?”, he unveiled the brand new MacBook Air, the computer that had people drooling during its inception in 2008. Since then, there have been three revisions, the newest having been unveiled this month at the "Back to the Mac" Apple conference.

One of the features that makes the MacBook Air so valuable is it's lightweight technology and long battery life. While the new MacBook Air takes these to the extreme, there are really only a few small upgrades to the new device. This computer now has integrated flash storage and a higher resolution display on the monitor. The maximum RAM that is available is 4GB, which may leave some serious computer techies wanting more. And some sites are reporting that this laptop is thinner than the blade of an axe.

The reduction of toxic chemicals like lead still makes this computer more environmentally "friendly" than others. Since this is one of BuyMyTronic's biggest concerns, any subtraction of harmful substances is a step in the right direction as far as we're concerned.

The new Mac OS X Lion, which this laptop supports, will hopefully be released sometime next summer.

The new MacBook air will have two versions, an 11.6 inch and 13.3 inch screen version with prices starting at $999. If you're looking to get your hands on the new computer, sell us your old, used or broken computers to get some extra cash!

Back to the Mac Event, October 20th

clock October 19, 2010 06:57 by author Chris Eckerdt

Apple is hosting a Back to the Mac event tomorrow, October 20th at 11am mountain time.  This teaser picture is the only thing we get as far as what to expect from Steve Jobs tomorrow, but my guess is that it has something to do with OS X.  Dissecting the picture above it appears to be a lion behind this Apple logo, and if we know anything about Apple it's that they love to name their operating systems after cats, big ones.  So a fair assumption would be that they are introducing OS X Lion 10.7.  Along with it there has been far-fetched rumors of a much needed MacBook Air hardware update, and even further fetched, a touchscreen iMac.  All just speculation of course.  Click the source below to check out what else Engadget has to say on the matter, and if you'd like to watch it live, head there!  They always have very good live coverage of all Apple's events on their liveblog.
